Why do we use the verb идти when talking about the repetitive action in the following expression?
Осенью часто идёт дождь.
Can I say: Осенью часть ходят дожди?

When we use verbs of motion in the non-motion meaning, the motion rules don't apply.

В этой аудитории по понедельникам идут лекции по физике.

You cannot say.
осенью ходят дожди.
It sounds funny.
