Verbs of Motion

       There are 14 special verbs in Russian that form a group called Verbs of Motion. Generally they describe every possible method of motion (to run, to swim, to crawl, etc.)
They come in pairs, and each pair denotes one method of motion.

Group1
Unidirectional, Describing the moment

Group 2
Multidirectional, Repetitive

Group 1:

Movement in a certain direction and at a certain time:
Я иду в библиотеку. = I am going to a library.


Group 2:

Movement without a definite direction or in different directions:
a) a repeated, regular movement;
б) a movement back and forth

Виктор ходит по комнате. = Victor is walking around the room. (Movements in different
directions)
Мой сын ходит в школу = My son goes to school. (Regular action)
Сегодня мы ходили в кино. = We have been to the movies. (Went there and came back. Back and forth movement.)
