  • I am teaching Russian. And many teachers will agree with me that a good coursebook is always a good start for good results and a great helper in teaching and learning. This is what I can say about "Russian Step by Step" series. The content meets all my requirements which will make my work easier and more enjoyable. The size and design of the book catches your eye from your first look. It's a small thing but important too. Students have to open the book with pleasure and close it with satisfaction. I like the structure of lessons and accessible material which will give students the feeling of confidence. The explanations of reading and grammar rules are very simple and it's really easy to understand and remember them. There is a variety of exercises there including translation from English into Russian and also short stories and dialogues. And I'd like to add that this coursebook also has a great additional material you can use in your work - audio materials online, Workbook, Teacher's Manual and Propisi. I love this set! It's a real treasure for a teacher and students!

  • My journey with Russian Step By Step started with the Reading Russian. Then I moved on to Beginner 1 and when I was done with it, I started on the Low Intermediate book. By the end of Beginner 1 a lot of this were making sense to me and I was afraid that the next level will be too complex and I would not be able to continue with it. I have several other books and I try to use parts of every book when I study. However I quickly ended up using the Russian Step By Step Low Intermediate as my main book again. I tried several other books and got lost! I found this book much more useful, especially because it introduces everything gradually. Russian has so many endings that you have to memorize, that unless you go slowly - you end up with a mess in your head. Learning the declensions matrix is not enough. When you talk you don't have time to think which case to use unless it comes automatically. And you need to practice - a lot. This Low Intermediate book has many written and audio exercises that make a lot of sense. I am really pleased with this book.
